Flip Vidio Plus Camcorder 60 min. A great little camcorder. Easy to use. Easy to download. A great movie camera to slip into your pocket/pocketbook. One thing to know, is once you shut Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black off, Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black does not pickup where you left off. When you turn Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black back on, Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black considers Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black a whole new movie. Flip Vidio company has a great site where Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black gives you great/easy indepth instructions. This camera is 100 times better then the cell phone, etc. Small enough to take movies, without being noticed. A great gift.
Buyer Beware of the Flip Ultra. I bought the 60 minute Flip Ultra and Flip Ultra Tripod about a week ago. However, I have yet to be able to do anything with the videos I have recorded. Before I bought the device I had read many reviews, and I should have listened more closely to the biggest problem: the Flip's software.
Initially, the software caused me to drop my rating to four stars. First off, you have to leave the device hooked up to your computer just to use the software, which I imagine drains the Flip's AA batteries. But, my real issue was with the software itself. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black is poorly designed and the only way to get the video off of the device. Pure Digital's intention is for you to use Flip to record the video and their program to edit the video. And, that program is painfully limited.
I was able to set up everything very easily and quickly. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black just didn't work very well once set up. I immediately started having sound problems. None of my videos had sound either when I played them with Pure Digital's software or when I played them with my own. Although, the video quality was good, as long as I didn't try to convert the file format and edit the video in another program.
The real reason I lowered my rating of the Flip Ultra to 1 star was because of the complete apathy on Pure Digital's part toward my issues. I called the Live Support line and was told after describing my problem that I should email their help team. I have a Mac and use Quicktime. Evidently, there was a recent update that is causing these problems. He also told me that I probably just have to wait for Apple to fix the bug. Wow. Great Customer Service.
So, I emailed their "help" team and hours later received a response stating basically what the "Live Support" person had told me. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black was Apple's fault and although they were working with Apple to understand Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black (not fix it) I would have to wait. They then told me Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black wasn't just the Flip having issues, Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black was a problem with Quicktime and AVI files. Which isn't true because I have other AVI files on my computer that play just fine. I also haven't been able to find out from anyone at Pure Digital why the videos don't work while using their own software.
I do NOT recommend that anyone buy the Flip Ultra if you have a Mac, expect any kind of customer service/support, and have intentions of actually using the videos you shoot with your cool little video recorder.
I most likely will be returning the device, because if I can't use the videos what good does having such a "cool" device do me?
Start button pesky. I love this little vidio player and recently used Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black to record a 10 day trip to Ireland. The only problem is when you hit the red record button you must be sure not to touch the surrounding rim or Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black will not engage correctly, especially when you click to shut Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black off. If you use your fingernail to be sure to touch only the red, you are fine. Once I learned this, Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Black went smoothly all the time.
