The color reproduction is a little blue of the true colors, but for price and portability, it can't be beat.

Sony HDR-SR11 - Much better than I expected
The video images you recover from this camcorder are unbelievable. It was like going from a dig 300 SLR Canon to a 1D SLR Canon for still. Software that Sony gives you and what you can buy has a learning curve, but in the end it is worth it for the video you recover from this camera and lens combination. BTW, this will exceed anything on the video end you will find by either Nikon or Canon in their new Dig SLR lines. I was shooting both. If you want video, get a video camera. If you want the performance of a high end dig SLR, get it, but skip the video hype for now. If you can only carry one, well each user needs to decide which is a higher priority, still or motion.

this is a very good camera easy to use didnt even need the directions. i read all about the bad software the cam came with but ive been using the one that came with my computer so i have no complaints about that. pictures come out better than the jvc and a lot clearer, video is a tiny bit better. the only thing is that it has no light on it like the jvc. i really like how everything is on screen and u can also edit on the camcorder itself. joystick is very easy to use image stabilization is the best even at 42x optical zoom

Got this battery free when we purchased our Canon Vixia camcorder. Works longer than the original battery. It is bigger too and sticks from the back of the camcorder, but it does not bother.

Flip Video Underwater Case - Worked perfectly
I got this and a flip for a sailing trip. It worked perfectly the first and every time I used it. Check the lens cover for water droplets after swimming to prevent them from ruining some videos. Can't believe how simple and easy this to use. Got great video while snorkeling as well. Super easy and very affordable!

Flip Ultra Series Camcorder - Flip "Flopped"
I like the Flip and it works well for short videos. It has useful attachments you can purchase for use under water or another that mounts to a bikes handlebars which is fun and it actually shoots well it must have stabilization software for this?
If you have a 2ghz computer processor make sure you do not click on the window that appears asking to upgrade the Flip software. Once you click the upgrade it requires a 4ghz computer chip for use and the Flip software will not workif you do not have the faster computer chip.
If you watch out for the software trap and use the original loaded software you will love the simpicity of the device. Lastly, it is best for short videos five or 10 minutes. It also slickly uploads to the computer using a USB port - overall a good product and a lot of fun.

Aiptek Action GVS HD model
CHEAP FEEL TO IT...EVEN AT THIS PRICE. AND HD, SERIOUSLY?. This camera seemed like a great deal. Aiptek Action HD GVS had HD and right at $200. But when we plugged in the HD cables from the camera to the TV, the hues were way off. We had to plug in the regular AV cables to get regular colors. This camera doesn't like anything but bright settings. Even recording in the house, you better open the door, all the windows, turn on all the lights and maybe even knock out a wall! I ordered this camera with high hopes and expectations (for the price), even after reading the reviews. The buttons on the back of the camera were poorly marked and the joystick felt really flimsy. The whole camera had a cheap feel for it. No, I didn't expect movie quality images, but I expected better than this. And the still images were a was to time. This seemed like a good deal, but do a little more research and find a better camea in this price range. I returned Aiptek Action HD GVS after a week.
Review for the average Joe.. I strongly recommend this camera if you are looking for an inexpensive camera for family use.

The biggest reason for me to get something new was for editing. VHS-c is a long and slow process to put on the computer for editing and I wanted better video quality.
I began looking at high definition camcorders and the Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder
was recommended to me because of good reviews. After reading the reviews on line, looking at videos posted on youtube, and the price of the camcorder, I decided to buy it.
I admit I have not used the Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder very much but here is what I can tell you:
1) It is inexpensive...My first camcorder cost me $800.00 with accessories. This one cost me around $400.00 with accessories. (Camera, external charger, extra battery, 16 Gig SD card and the Sima bracket. There was tax and some shipping as well.)
2) The camera is small, easy to use and very portable.
3) I bought a 16 Gig SD card for it and for the moment I don't think I need more. The camera says I have 4 hours of available video at the 1080p setting.
4) The camera likes a lot of light. The more light the better. In rooms with just one light on...the video is very dark. I thought I had purchased the Sima SL-20LX Ultra Bright Video Light when I made my purchase. I just discovered I didn't. Due to the lighting issues I have seen in my own home, I am going to buy the Sima Light. Just a note, My VHS-c camcorder was horrible inside the house when I did not use the built in light.
5) I bought the Sima SLB-M Video Bracket. Just used it for the first time and really like it. The camcorder is small. Holding it in one hand is not recommended because it is too hard to keep steady with one hand. You can hold the camera with one hand and the video screen with the other but the Sima is a metal bracket and is sturdier than the movable plastic video screen. You will also want it for you Sima LED light. You will want to hold the camera steady for the best video.
6) The camera did not come with a wrist strap. I purchased one and recommend it.
7) Another review was negative for the the choppy video at 1080p. It is choppy when everyone is moving a lot but with good lighting the picture looks great. With this camera it is a trade off. Slightly choppy video for great picture quality. For sports, you will probably want to use the 720p at 60fps setting.
8) The *only* setting that uses the cameras stabilization is the 720p at 60fps mode.
I review all my electronics on line and I hope this review helps you make your decision easier. I am happy with the camera and it works for my needs.

Great Little Bag. Lowepro Edit 110 is a great little bag if you are just planning on carrying around 1 compact video camera and a couple tapes and the cables. Minus one star for not having a big enough pocket on the front to support the chanrger and the A/V cable. Very well built.

Cable USB IFC-400PCU cool
Canon USB Cable IFC-400PCU . I had lost my other cable, had to buy a new one, this was a genuine Canon product. Very pleased.

Exceeds Expectations. RCA EZ205 little camera exceeded all our expectations.
It's small, cheap, easy to use.
It seems pretty robust too.
Great Little Camera, but NOT FOR MACS. While this is no professional camera (which I'm sure you should know by now), it's a darn great camera for the price. It's perfect for the guy or gal on the go who wants to be prepared to capture any spontaneous moment. The video is good enough quality to share with friends and family online. The photos aren't very good, but they work in a pinch. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because RCA EZ205 SUCKS for mac users. When I plug the device in and upload the media, the videos don't play on the native mac software. Supposedly, there's some geeky work-around, but with so many other cameras out there that are compatible for the mac, I'm just going to return this and purchase another. If you are a PC user, the small wonder is a great purchase!

They call me "Mr. Flip-O". I read some great reviews from PR professionals who are using the Flip Mino in the workplace to do quick down-and-dirty video to lend some authenticity to their work. I must say . . . the reviews were spot-on. The Flip is so easy to use, a monkey could use it. (No kidding.) We were doing a major product launch, and in the space of a couple of days, I'd interviewed the major players, incorporated additional footage and produced a celebration video for the company intranet. We ended up with happy, informed employees and kudos from the boss. All for less than $200. Although the Flip Mino has a great little editing tool stored on its hard drive, we decided to spring for something a little more robust. However, Flip Video Mino White is entirely possible to use ONLY the Flip and get by just fine. I've flipped over the Flip, and now everybody's calling me Mr. Flip-O. Love it!

Labs Vado Creative ok or not
Nice Inexpensive Camera for Quick Videos. I was pleasantly surprised by this camera. Creative Labs Vado has decent video quality considering its price and intended purpose. Creative Labs Vado comes with software to assist you in making Youtube or Photobucket videos. Creative Labs Vado has 2gb of storage for approximately 2 hours on standard quality. The premium quality video setting allows for one hour of recording time. Files are saved in avi format, so its more PC-centric than Mac-centric. Xvid codecs need to be installed on both Macs and PCs also.
It is about the same size as a flip-style cell phone and weights about the same as well. Overall I have found this to be a very useful camera for taking quick videos of my cats playing. I currently do not own a full size video camera, so this will also be useful and fun for filming our one year old niece.

The sound on the cam itself is not very good but Creative Labs Vado transfers well to the computer. We recorded a handball tournament and the cam is fast enough that you can see where the ball is at all times...barring objects in front of it. The Vado is affordable and a very good device for recording every day events such as a baby's first steps or your son's wrestling match. Get you one!

One had a dead battery out of the box - tried to work through Creative Labs but Creative Labs Vado was too much of a hassle and just bought a new battery for $15. Once the cameras were both working, they are handy and offer decent video quality for Youtube and Facebook type short videos. Nice thing about them is you are more apt to capture video of an event because these things are so small you can always have them at hand

Focus on DLP006 Lenmar
As good as the origninal. I didn't realize how short the charge life was on my original battery until I started using Lenmar DLP006 one. Works as well as when the camera was new. I got almost three years out of the first one. Hope Lenmar DLP006 does as well. Price was very reasonable.

So far, I lve this camera!. I purchased this camera to replace an older Sony Hi-8 digital camcorder. I use the camcorder for home movies of the family and sports games of our kids.
Additonally, I like to do some basic editing to make some fun videos for family that can play on their computer or DVD. When I say basic editing, I mean - joining clips, fade in/out, mute the video sound and add some MP3 music tracks. add transitions and titles and credits - everything I would do with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker. My primary concerns with this camcorder (or any of the non-tape based cameras) was - "will I still be able to do that with the .MOD files this camera creates". out how to do everything with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker and I am thrilled with the results!! (Let me know if I can help you)
First, I love the size of the camera - Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine fits nicely in my hand and very convenient to carry with you to the sporting events. I LOVE the flash based media type. Tapes are nice because they provide an automatic backup of the movie on your tapes. However, I have found that we rarely watch those old 8mm videos because you have to get the camera out and the tapes and watch or fast forward through any scenes you would like to skip. Additionally, to do editing, Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine is a 1 to 1 ratio for time....meaning an hour of tape would run real time (1 hour) to get on the computer. With the flash media the clips transfer very easily and fast to the computer and you are ready to view and edit or play. I forsee us watching our videos so much more now that Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine will all be backed up to the hard drive.
So far, the only things I am not crazy about and still adjusting is the stabilization when holding the camera. While the zoom is AWESOME, Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine sure does show a lot more shake then the heavier camera I used to use. I am looking forward to trying out a tripod with the zoom to see the difference.
I was not ready to go hi-def for a couple of reasons....I dont have a blue ray player and I was not willing to go through the process of working with AVCHD files (their size, editing issues, etc.). I have seen some that say Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine is not that bad, but just not worth Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine to me yet. The video that this produces looks great to me. I burned a DVD of a night-time little league game and I thought Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine looked great on my 50" HDTV. That being said, indoor videos without much light can look a little grainy but still looked better than my last camcorder. Sure, I would like Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine to be a little better quality on the indoor shots but I also understand if I wanted that I would have to pay A LOT more money and these are just for home use, nothing professional.
All in all I am very happy to have picked up this camera!

Canon FS100 Camcorder Garnet Wine doesn't work so well under low light conditions (putting him to bed, for instance) but all in all a pretty good experience thus far and connects directly to my TV and computer.

So far, I lve this camera!. I purchased this camera to replace an older Sony Hi-8 digital camcorder. I use the camcorder for home movies of the family and sports games of our kids.
Additonally, I like to do some basic editing to make some fun videos for family that can play on their computer or DVD. When I say basic editing, I mean - joining clips, fade in/out, mute the video sound and add some MP3 music tracks. add transitions and titles and credits - everything I would do with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker. Mad about Camcorder Flip Ultra Video Orange
Flip Ultra camcorder. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange is a bit tricky to download videos to computer. Seems to take awhile and is also, I've heard, very fragile. However, we are enjoying using Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange and love the portability and size. The skins and soft pouch accessories do not fit this camera. We had to use an existing camera case of our own to protect Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange from bumps if Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange is accidently dropped. Still experimenting with it. So far Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange is a good value and we hope Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange lasts a long time. Fun to use.
Wait to buy until Pure Digital engineers get their software to work. I purchased three Ultras, one for me, two for Christmas presents. In my opinion, I would wait to buy this until Pure Digital gets their act together and has software that is compatible with all operating systems and that actually works. Their QA department failed miserably releasing this too soon with such a lousy software interface. I am having all the same issues other reviewers have mentioned. I can't download videos to my computer; software freezes and have to end task; Flip Video still shows "Connected" after disconnecting from computer and have to take out batteries to get Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange to restart (a real pain in the you know what) and I have the same issue others stated about starting and stopping recording. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange often takes many presses to do either. I tried one of the other Flip Videos I bought and Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange was worse than the first one. Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange wouldn't even install the software. I received an error message shortly after connecting Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange to my computer. This is just too frustrating and I don't have the time (or patience at this point) and I don't want to send my sons' their Christmas present knowing that Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange won't work. I did write to Pure Digital and got a response back to send Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange back to them and they will repair Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange and retrieve my videos and send back. What a bunch of baloney! I just bought the dang thing plus two more for Christmas presents. Why would I want to take the time and effort to send Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Orange back to them and then probably have the exact same issue once again, as many of you have noted who have tried this already. Nope, for me, all three Flip Videos are being returned! I'll wait until Pure Digital gets their act together and has a software interface that has been thoroughly tested and actually works! Handycam ony DCR-SR45 30GB suck
Sony Handycarm DCR-SR45 . The good:
- 30GB HDD.
- Comapct.
- Can use Memory Stick flash cards alternatively.
- Image stabilization.
- Long zoom.
- Takes single photo shots.
- Touch screen viewfinder LCD.
The bad:
- Can't use the more popular, cheaper, widely available SD flash cards.
- Single photo shots are TERRIBLE quality. Not even worth taking.
- Battery life with supplied battery is TERRIBLE.
- No recording flash/light.
- Cannot edit videos in Windows Movie Maker (you can probably find the video codec somewhere on the net, but after 10 minutes of searching I lost patience (if it's even possible). Sony website offers no support for that. No one should have to waste hours of their time converting videos to some other format or finding some third or millionth party plug-ins to make this work. Incompetence on Sony's part.
- Barely standard definition.
- DISCONTINUED MODEL as of early 2009 (maybe earlier).
Bottom line:
Don't waste your money unless you need only basic video capabilities, with very basic quality format and decently compact package. This is a discontinued model, so beware. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a brand new, discontinued item like this either. I made a mistake buying this even at $300 with a discount, but I'm returning ony DCR-SR45 30GB Handycam after two months (thank you 90-day return policy, Target).

After many trips shooting with this handycam, the video quality has been consistently amazing.
Coupled with an additional battery, ony DCR-SR45 30GB Handycam can last hours of shooting.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to take pictures with this since it's clearly not meant for it. The photo quality is abysmal at best and is no substitute for a regular camera.

Hello Camcorder HF100 Canon VIXIA
First real 1920x1080 camcoder. Nice quality and color purity. No focus hunting.
This is a first real full HD, unlike fake anisotropic 1440x1080 for previous models.
24p and 30p are impractical ones, video is recorded in 60i anyway. I'd rather see fully progressive 30 fps video instead. Making field deinterlace (even-odd-even-odd) makes nice 60fps footage with half vertical resolution. I'm downscaling the horizontal res twice as well with lanczos sharp resizer. That gives 960x540 ultra sharp very live (60 fps) progressive video.
Battery life is a drawback, you'd better buy extra BP819 off eBay. Note, this battery doesn't have a chip thus can't show charge time left indicator.
Besides battery and "fake" 30p Canon VIXIA HF100 Camcorder is a perfect camera.
solid if slow. The video is good with no mechanical camera noise. The pictures are decent and the optical zoom is good. The display is of excellent quality and viewable from wide angles. My only complaint is the speed in which Canon VIXIA HF100 Camcorder powers up or reads a new memory card is much longer than advertised.
Given what I know now, I would buy Canon VIXIA HF100 Camcorder again.

I did a lot of research before purchasing, and feel Canon VIXIA HF100 Camcorder camera offers the most bang for the buck with great quality pictures. Good for a families who want something small and functional. But don't buy retail! I saved around $150 searching on Amazon.

Video Pink Ultra Camcorder Flip beta
I like it. my only peeve Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink that Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink can't be used with poor lighting, but for the price it's hard to expect. my Sony camcorder has a night lighting, but Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink costs $1000 more. and heavy. in all other aspects it's a fine little camera. very easy to use and transferring video to computer is very easy too.
Flip is Fun, but needs better software. Our twelve year old grandson visited soon after the Flip camera arrived in the mail. He became the family traveling reporter and made several hysterical videos. We all viewed them on our TV set. I then spent two weeks trying to email them to other relatives. There is a Flip/support feature, but Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink wasn't able to solve the problem. This is a great product but Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink needs easier "sharing" features.
Videos of Frank, particles, waves. I got this for one reason, and one reason only. Frank. The camera is drawn to him. Yes. He is a tad overweight. Yes. He drinks to much.
I first started filming Frank on my cell phone, when he was eating corn. His bites were methodical and precise, his execution complete, not a kernal remained. Eye contact with the camera all the way through. I lost that phone and the memories contained within Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink while on a trip. It's somewhere in Central America.
Moving on. I haven't seen Frank since getting this camera, so Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink is tough to adequately review it. I did break up with a girl that I shot a video of, so from that point of view, Flip Video Ultra Camcorder Pink will give a lasting imprint. No. Not that kind of video.
Videos are windows into events that occurred at some point. But...is the presence of the camera in and of itself altering those being viewed? I suspect many of you are looking for something to capture life's little moments - a quickly growing child, a vacation, perhaps a video of you watching your favorite show (yes. So postmodern). Think twice. This act of observance changes that which is being observed. Heidenberg, I think. So? Are you a wave or a particle.
Think on it.

I have been wanting a nice digital video camera for some time now. On the weekends I'm a professional aviation photographer, and over the last twelve months or so have been receiving more and more questions about providing video for clients. Last June I purchased an inexpensive Sony camcorder that was nice for casual shooting. However, I quickly found myself wanting more.
A local store was going out of business and had the Canon VIXIA HG20 for about 50% of its normal asking price, so I quickly grabbed the last one in the store.
After playing with this camera for about a month, I have become very fond of this camera. Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder is simply a joy to use! Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder offers many adjustable settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and mic. volume, just to name a few.
I have produced a number of videos and have uploaded them to YouTube in full HD for everyone to enjoy. One such video was created for a local airshow pilot.
One of the greatest features, in my opinion, is the ability to adjust the microphone sensativity. Pilots LOVE to be able to hear the crisp, clear sound of airplanes. And this camera catches Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder beautifully, even without the optional external microphone! Also, I am able to select slower shutter speeds in order to get a full disk of propeller rotation on Warbirds, as well as super-fast shutter speeds to capture the detail of fighter jets as they fly-by.
Color saturation is really great as well. I'm able to accurately capture the detail and real-life color in nearly every lighting situation.
This coming summer I will be using my HG20 more so than my DSLR.
All that said, I would buy this camera again in a heartbeat! It's simple to use, has many adjustable features, is lightweight, and shoots tac-sharp video at a reasonable price!

On the weekends I'm a professional aviation photographer, and over the last twelve months or so have been receiving more and more questions about providing video for clients. Last June I purchased an inexpensive Sony camcorder that was nice for casual shooting. However, I quickly found myself wanting more.
A local store was going out of business and had the Canon VIXIA HG20 for about 50% of its normal asking price, so I quickly grabbed the last one in the store.
After playing with this camera for about a month, I have become very fond of this camera. Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder is simply a joy to use! Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder offers many adjustable settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and mic. volume, just to name a few.
I have produced a number of videos and have uploaded them to YouTube in full HD for everyone to enjoy. One such video was created for a local airshow pilot.
One of the greatest features, in my opinion, is the ability to adjust the microphone sensativity. Pilots LOVE to be able to hear the crisp, clear sound of airplanes. And this camera catches Canon VIXIA HG20 AVCHD Camcorder beautifully, even without the optional external microphone! Also, I am able to select slower shutter speeds in order to get a full disk of propeller rotation on Warbirds, as well as super-fast shutter speeds to capture the detail of fighter jets as they fly-by.
Color saturation is really great as well. I'm able to accurately capture the detail and real-life color in nearly every lighting situation.
This coming summer I will be using my HG20 more so than my DSLR.
All that said, I would buy this camera again in a heartbeat! It's simple to use, has many adjustable features, is lightweight, and shoots tac-sharp video at a reasonable price!

Why must VIXIA Camcorder MiniDV HV30 Canon
Cannon Mini Dv HD camorder. I purchased this camcorder for my teenage son for Christmas. He loves the quality and the fact that Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder is high definition. He can review his movies on HDTV and everyone can see what he has taped. He has edited many of his movies on the computer, adding special effects that is easy and fun for him to do. The picture quality is great! I recommend this camcorder to anyone!
It was a hard decision, but I'm happy.. Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
I'm very happy with my Canon HV30. I rate the picture quality, color quality, low-light ability, white balance all excellent. The zoom control is a little close for my fingers and I found myself holding the camera less firmly (ie with the tips of my fingers rather than my whole hand) which would be wearisome on a long shoot, but tripods are still the best way to shoot video for steady pictures. On the other hand the anti-vibration correction seems to help a lot.
The total package is good, not excellent and includes a battery with a nice contact protector that doesn't look like Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder will fall off (unlike the protector plate on the Elura and Optura that has to be taped on because Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder is so loose.) The plate keeps the battery from discharging on the keys in your pocket or bag. Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder also includes a charger which will also operate the camera without the battery, which is very handy. This is only good, because Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder won't charge the battery unless Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder is in the camera, so you can't charge while shooting with another battery.
The package also includes a remote control (see above) that frustrated me the first time I used Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder and seems to be of marginal utility. However, all of the minor problems with the package can be remedied with an add-on accessory. The camera is what does the work and Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder is excellent.
I've had this camcorder only one week. Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder was a busy week with kids graduation and parties and night club rock concerts on the video agenda but I learned a lot shopping for this camera and using Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder all week, so maybe my story will help you.
First, why miniDV rather than flash, hard disk or dvd? I already have two mini dv cameras, a Canon Optura and an Elura. These have given me good service and images that were the envy of my Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic-owning friends. The only brand I compare to Canon is Sony (for similar consumer equipment). I rejected the flash and DVD models because the recording time is too short. DVD, in particular, is a rip-off with just 15 minutes for a $10 disk.
This kind of short recording time is OK if what you want is to capture 1 or 2 minutes of magic moments and have them immediately available to put in a player. Personally I find the tape just as good for instant replay on the built-in video screen. Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder takes a couple minutes longer to rewind the tape.
The hard drive models have a recording time advantage that initially attracted me, but the transfer issue is what made me decide to stay with a minidv. Ultimately all video has to be transfered to another medium to be used and archived. I have been transfering my minidv tapes to computer hard drives and dvd for years.
Transfer is a tediuos, time-eating process that has caused me to spend more upgrading my computer and software than I spent on the cameras. Yes, I can make DVDs with my video; I can make YouTube videos; and I can put my own video stuff on my iPod and Zune. But Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder takes a lot of time to get the results I want.
Why tape? It's cheap and convenient. Video takes a lot of disk space to store the original and then to edit and render into other formats. I buy the cheap tapes but I only record them once. I can carry 2 or 3 which give me 2 or 3 hours recording time. The real restraint is the batteries. Once I have the image on tape I don't erase it. I can play Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder immediately if I want to, but the ultimate goal is to transfer Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder to hard disk for editing and archiving. The real godsend is the recent plethora of cheap 500 GB (now 750 and soon 1TB) external USB hard drives. The transfer time is a chore; so is the indexing.
Tape is patient. I can do Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder on my schedule. With a hard disk, Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder can get full at a time that is inconvenient to transfer but I need to do some more shooting. Then I would have to consider the dreaded DELETE of something I shot. With tape I can postphone transfering and editing for months without impairing my camera readiness. After I transfer, I still have the tape.
I considered the Sony HDR-HC9 and the older Canon HV20 vs. the Canon HV30. I was tempted by the 6MP in the Sony and also by the low prices on the HV20. I saw a deal on an HV20 for $520 but Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder was gone before I made up my mind to settle for it. Ultimately I was looking at $999 for the Sony or $771 for the Canon. The HV30 had 30p mode and the $228 savings provided a budget for extra batteries and other goodies.
So am I happy? Yes.
My wife used Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder at my kids' graduation. Perfect color and detail, oohs and ahs from everybody. My wife just uses automatic mode with the lcd screen hanging out. I took some mobile shots in my car, one-handed through the windshield. The anti-vibration mode works great, as does the autofocus. During this shoot there were times when the camera was looking almost directly into the sun. The meter responded quickly and closed down the aperture, but the resulting scene was a little dark (not too bad, actually). There is a back-light compensation button that could have helped but I didn't think about until later.
Then Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder was off to a night club. I took a recharged battery, not totally topped off because of numerous replays of some of the recent shooting. The lighting was typical dim night club ambiance with flashing disco lights on the dance floor and stage. My plan is to film the whole show.
I have plenty of tape but just the BP-2L13 that came with the camera, which the manual rates at 75 minutes using the viewfinder, or 70 minutes using the LCD. I also know that new Li-on batteries need to be recharged a few times before they reach their full capacity.
47 minutes of continuous filming is what I got, using the viewfinder. The image in the viewfinder was bright and easy to see. I wear bifocals but I was able to hold the camera several inches from my face and still see the edges of the viewfinder screen enough to frame the picture I wanted. My Optura and Elura both had decent viewfinders, but many was the time when I just pointed the camera and hoped my framing was ok because the image was so dim. The HV30 is really a huge step up.
I haven't had enough experience with this camera to fiddle with the focus and white balance while shooting so I left Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder on automatic. The colors of the spotlights were changing very quickly and I was panning the stage and the crowd, zooming in and out. After the battery died I took Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder off and held in my hand to warm Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder so after the show Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder gave me a few more seconds of shooting. Considering Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder wasn't topped off on the charger and Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder was only the first time Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder had been cycled I wasn't that disappointed. I just ordered a BP-L24H rated at 145 minutes recording time on the viewfinder from Amazon for $99 with some of the money I saved over buying the Sony.
The images were fantastic. I've shot in light like this with my Optura and ELura and there were always dark shadows with almost no detail. The Vixia showed great detail in the shadows. The automatic white balance reacted in a pleasant way to the red, orange and blue spotlights. Occasionally, on a wide shot of the band, while I was panning, the lead singer would be washed out from the bright spot on him while the rest of the band was in shadow but the overall effect made him look rather god-like which was cool. When I zoomed in the aperture closed down and I got excellent skin color and detail on his face. The anti-vibration did a great job because most of the images were pretty steady even though I was handholding and the crowd was bumping me often.
The sound was the only detail that keeps this from being perfect. The sound started out OK for the first few numbers, but as the night went on and the playing got louder, there was a lot of distortion because of the overloading. The band used big Marshall amps and I was standing 3 feet in front of an eight-foot high stack of speakers so Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder is to be expected. For a more acoustic or quieter show the automatic limiter would have been fine. Next time I won't stand in front of the speakers.
At home I hooked Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder up to the HDTV with the HDMA cable, tuned to the HDMA input with the TV remote and fired up the camera with the included remote control. The remote is a little skinny thing that does't provide any feedback when you select a function. My bedroom is less than 15 feet long so Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder couldn't have been more than ten feet to the camera. I had to get up and check the display in the camera to make sure the tape was rewound. This would be strictly an experimental item to be used at close range in a shooting situation.
On batteries: I have bought the "compatible" batteries and been burned many times. On my Canon sure-shot the compatible batteries would be charged (Charger light is green) but the battery would run the camera no more than 5 minutes. Same problem on my phones. For my Optura, I bought three "compatible" batteries and they worked fine. YMMV.
For editing, I've been using Ulead Visual Studio 11.5. The HV30 doesn't come with any software for movie editing or even transfering to disk. The included CD has software to transfer still pictures to a computer, but you don't need it. I verified that the HV30 is recognized automatically as a digital camera when you plug in the USB cable to the computer running XP.
I didn't install the Canon software, but I did install a miniSD chip (not included) and take some pictures. There is a different button to snap still pictures which I missed the first time I took a picture. Even if you have the switch on the still position, Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV Camcorder starts the video tape recording if you press the camera start button. The three megapixels doesn't maake for a great picture but###user###may come in handy. This isn't one of the feaatures that attracted me to the camera but###user###may come in handy.
It copied my video from the camera and I edited###user###into a DVD. My Visual Studio 11.5 edits and burns AVCHD, but I haven't got a player that will read AVCHD anyway (other than my computer). I'm waiting for the Blue Ray burners to come out at reasonable cost, then I'll probably get some software that burns those. My computer is a quad-core Pentium with 4GB RAM.
If you read all the way to the end you are really a glutton for detail like me. I don't really care if you buy this camera or not. You should buy the camera that is right for you and your budget. If I felt I could afford it, I'd get a 3CCD profesional model with interchangeable lenses. I'd hire a grip to carry my equipment and set up and hold the boom mikes. I'd get some professional grade editing equipment too, like Avid. I'd get one of those business disk duplicators that print the labels and burn the disks while I sleep. OK, I'll stop.
About the best out there for under $1000. I have owned the Canon HV30 for a little over a month. I have used###user###strictly for wildlife video in combination with the Canon TL-43 1.7x tele-converter and the DM50 directional microphone.
The picture quality is fantastic for a camcorder at this price. I shoot in HD 30p with Cinema Mode enabled. I also enable peaking and use focus assist magnification for better manual focus.

Pouch Pink Soft Flip today
Should have read the reviews first. This product is a waste of money. The picture makes Flip Soft Pouch Pink look like a nice velcro flap but Flip Soft Pouch Pink is a pain to put the Flip in and out. You'll definitely miss a good shot by trying to take the camera out. In my opinion Flip Soft Pouch Pink is definitely not worth the money.
Fits like a glove - just like it's supposed to!. This fits like a neoprene wetsuit! It's an envelope-style - slip the bottom of your Flip in first and then pull the top up and over the back. It's snug to keep Flip Soft Pouch Pink safe from bumps and jarrings.
The best part is that to shoot you just pull the top up and back to expose the upper part of the camera - no need to remove the entire case! It's perfect for popping out the camera for a quick shot.
Mine did have a ring to hang the camera pouch from but Flip Soft Pouch Pink broke. I'll replace Flip Soft Pouch Pink with a small caribeaner.
Great case and Flip Soft Pouch Pink does exactly what the company says Flip Soft Pouch Pink will do. Flip Soft Pouch Pink protects my camera while it's tucked in my pocket or purse and it's quick to remove when it's time to shoot.

Pouch Flip Black Soft forever
The case that came with the camera was better.. Flip Soft Pouch Black is very difficult to get the Flip camcorder in and out of the pink pouch. My daughter wanted Flip Soft Pouch Black because Flip Soft Pouch Black is pink, like her camcorder, but she doesn't use Flip Soft Pouch Black at all. The fit is too tight to wrestle Flip Soft Pouch Black in and out each time. She prefers the case Flip Soft Pouch Black came with. We couldn't return Flip Soft Pouch Black because she had thrown away the packaging.

FS100 Canon Memory Flash Camcorder change
Great Camcorder. I am completely satisfied with my purchase of this camcorder. Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder is all than I expected and more. The software that came with Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder to produce DVD's seems very vertasile, even though I haven't yet used it. I think the value I received for the price is very good. I had a camcorder that used mini tapes that took lots of reinding and fast forwarding time, not to mention the cost of tapes, and so I was excited to graduate to one with an SD card. I have a Canon Rebel also, and I really am satisfied with both products.
Love it!. I think this camera is brilliant. Got Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder new for $[...] here, free shipping, and have played with everything on it. I have to say I don't really get the complaints about how Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder downloads, etc. I did install the Canon disks, having had great experiences with the Canon softward in the past, both in speed and ease of use, and my movies download as .mpg files, not .mov. The editing software isn't "pro" quality, obviously, but why would you buy a $[...] camera for that kind of use anyway? Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder has some cool tools that are fun to tinker with, and that's all I need. If I can do a nifty little fade in and out with credits at the beginning and end, and throw in a voice-over once in awhile (which the included software accommodates), I don't need much else. Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder also will print stills from camera to printer, and burn videos directly from camera to DVD burner, recorder, or, get this...VCR!
It's perfect for hobby stuff, family videos, and actually a lot of higher-quality movies, too, especially if you read the directions and take advantage of all its little perks. The camera itself is super-easy to use, but if you wanted Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder even less complicated than Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder already is, there's an "easy button." Ha! Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder has a rocking zoom, usable in different forms, and Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder actually records very well in not just low light, but virtual darkness, as long as you're not 30 feet away from your subject, turn on the mini-light, AND you adjust the exposure to open the shutter longer...then Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder lights up like a Christmas tree! Again, if you want absolutely no visible grain and incredibly smooth transfer quality, you have 2 options: spend another $[...] or so, minimum, or turn on a light! Anything short of that, this camera has covered. It's about an inch or so longer than my hand is wide, so plenty tiny and fits perfectly in my palm.
I had some reservations after reading some of the negative reviews, but I am SO glad I blew them off. I haven't had any of the problems complained about by others, and you cannot beat the price on these things right now.
Perfect for family videos, 5- Star Item. I am the type of person all the family and friends come to when it's time to buy electronics - I don't take making decisions lightly. After looking for a great camera to replace my 5 year old Sony Digital8, I found a real winner with this Canon.
Outdoor image quality is awesome. Almost looks HD. Indoor is not perfect but better than any other camcorder I have ever owned or used. I have stayed with burning DVDs from the camera using analog inputs into my DVD recorder, as I find Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder way less frustrating than using digital files, but I have loaded the Imagemixer software that comes with this camera and Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder works well for anyone who is looking to upload videos to youtube, etc.
I chose to buy a SanDisk 4GB SDHC card, which although my HP Pavilion PC card reader cannot read SDHC, the SanDisk card came with a usb adapter which was super.
I have found Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder important to keep my elbow braced against my body when filming to eliminate image shake, as this camera is so light (which is awesome - Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder fits in my small digital camera case for travel!)

Get Ultra Action Mount Flip Flip for now
Pretty Worthless. The action mount for the Flip Video is pretty worthless in my opinion. The Velcro isn't strong enough to hold the camera steady. I could not, whatever I did, get the camera to stay vertical on the handle bars of my bike. I would not recommend buying this action mount unless you plan on modifying Flip Action Mount for Flip Ultra to make Flip Action Mount for Flip Ultra better with the addition of a clamping mechanism or something similar.
Very disappointed.

The video camera integrates a huge amount of intelligent functions that ensure the quality of your video experience.

On top of that the video cameras body weight with 380gr. and the size of your favourite beverage is well acceptable even for ladies or kids hands.
The HF11 does not come with any major usability hitches but for video editing features you might want to look into additional software editing and codec converter solutions like Divx, Xvid etc. to be able to share the joy with your friends on DVD etc. The package contains all possible cables but NOT the ultra compact HDMI cable connection.

If you cant compromise video quality for anything get the HF11 with its 24mbps recording mode and be rest assured you have the extra stretch when you need Canon VIXIA HF10 Flash Memory f.e. in low light scenarios and the best model on the marcet in the personal camcorder class.
Otherwise, if you can life with good quality and the same usability and other features as the big brother than you can make a deal by getting the HF10 or the HF100.
The intelligent functions and the exceptionally good design make the HF100, the HF10 or the HF11 the natural choice for beginners, amateurs and entry professionals.
This is the quality customers are expecting from a long term Imaging company like Canon !!

An Okay Camara, with Some Usability Issues. I bought the camara, and found that Canon VIXIA HF10 Flash Memory is fairly easy to use.
I have some troubles with its software and manual.
1) The Manual cannot be openned up easily by Adobe PDF Reader 9.0, and got stuck constantly. As a result, I have to download another reader from other software vender to read manual.
2) I had a hard time to upload the video records from the camara to my PC, until I did a lot of research over Internet to find that I have to use AC power instead of battery to upload the recording.
I wasted about 6 hours to address these two issues. Other than that, everything seems working out okay.
Another complaint is that the battery life is too short (about 90 minutes).

Xacti Sanyo VPC-E2 beta
Great Value, Great Size. This is an awesome little device. Havent had a chance to try Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 under water though. Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 is easy to figure out the menu and shoots a good quality video. The only thing that sucks is the battery life. Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 only lasts about an hour, not impressed with that. Can hold around 5 hrs of video on a 8GB SDHC card depending on what setting you have Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 on.
Great camera for quick home video. Positives: Cheap price, starts recording fast, small, build quality is good, and the video imports easily to my mac.
Cons: Doesn't do well in low light, battery last 1 hour and 7 minutes, video is 4X3.
Overall Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 is a good camera to capture quick video of our kids, my wife keeps Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 in her purse at all times and loves it. Again Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 camera works poor in low light but is really great for spontaneous recording of our kids.
